Starting in January 2020, customers will no longer be able to visit a Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) or Authorized Third Party office if they want to get new license plates, registration tabs, and vehicle titles. Instead, customers will now receive these items through the mail.

If you plan to renew your registration, your record will be quickly updated and you will be sent a receipt for proof of registration. If you want to get a license plate, the plate number will now be entered into your service file and you will be mailed a permanent plate. If you plan to buy an Off-Highway Vehicle decal and use it the same day, then you will need to keep the receipt with you as proof of purchase.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has plans to transition more vehicle titles to an electronic process in the future. In the past, there was a limited number of title transfers that could be done online with AZ MVD Now, such as owner-to-owner transfers of Arizona-registered vehicles.
