Maria Jones Law Firm always keeps up to date with any US immigration News changes and regulations. In order to provide excellent quality of work, MJLF provides weekly training’s to the staff. On Friday, April 25, 2014, we had U-Visa training with Legal Assistants and Attorneys. The training was conducted by our Managing attorney, Stephanie Corcoran. A U-visa is a temporary non-immigrant status available to non-citizen victims of certain crimes. Congress created the U-visa as part of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Prevention Act of 2000, in order to strengthen the ability of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute certain crimes against immigrants and to offer protection to victims who fear cooperating with law enforcement due to their immigration status. With this type of Visa you can obtain Lawful status for up to 4 years; eligibility to adjust status to a lawful permanent resident after 3 years; automatic grant of work authorization for 4 years; derivative visas for qualifying family members. Our staff receive weekly training to be able to provide that Excellent Customer Service to all of our clients. More than filling out the paperwork, we are making a difference in people’s lives.
